Grassroots Football Coach

I've now completed the FA Introduction to Coaching Football course and found it very useful. I now need to speak to the club welfare officer to see about getting a DBS check and then I can start coaching properly.

We entered the new team into a 6-a-side football tournament along with the other team. Eight girls from the new team were involved as well as the goalkeeper from the under 13's as we still need a goalkeeper. The games were 8 minutes straight with rolling subs. We started the first game ok and were drawing nil nil until the last minute when we conceded and lost one nil. We drew the next two games nil-nil and were getting better with each game, we went two nil up in the fourth game but unfortunately, let in two late goals to draw again. We were unlucky, but that's football. At this point, we needed to win our fifth and final game to make it through to the knockout stages. We were playing the team who were top of the group and unbeaten. After a hard-fought game, we lost 1 nil. A great experience playing against teams that play in first divisions. The other team won the group and lost 1 nil in the semi-finals. They could have won the tournament, but did well as like the new team they too had never played 6-a-side games before.
